SEOquake is a free Chrome extension for on-page SEO and domain-level analysis. With one click, you get valuable SEO data for any page, including organic search traffic, backlinks, and keyword density — no account, setup, or tool juggling necessary.
This guide covers SEOquake’s main workflows, from keeping key metrics visible in SEObar to using Quick View for a fast snapshot and Full Report for deeper audits, keyword density, link analysis, domain comparisons, and Semrush metrics.
SEOquake Quick View
When you’re on a page and want fast SEO insights, SEOquake’s Quick View report provides an instant snapshot of organic search traffic, backlinks, keyword density, metadata, and more.
Key Features
Quick View is split into five tabs you can toggle between, each focused on a different type of SEO data:
Page Info: An overview of the page’s key SEO data, including Semrush metrics (domain-level organic search traffic, traffic cost, and domain backlinks, plus page-level URL backlinks), metadata, headings, schema, and more
Content: Title tag and meta description with character counts, the page’s full heading structure, keyword density overview, image stats, and word count
Audit: Crawlability, indexation, security, social metadata, and page configuration checks
Schema: Structured data detected on the page, including JSON-LD, Microdata, and RDFa, plus a social share preview
Semrush: Organic traffic, traffic cost, and backlinks at the domain and page level. Connect a Semrush account to unlock deeper backlink data and the full Traffic Analytics report.
How Quick View Works
SEOquake Quick View pop-up analyzes the page in your current browser tab. It collects data directly from the page and may also run network-based checks for robots.txt, the sitemap, response headers, and link status.
Those checks run in the background, so if Quick View looks incomplete at first, wait a moment and reopen SEOquake.
For an explanation of any element or metric in any of Quick View’s five reports, hover over the tooltip icon.
How to Open Quick View
Follow these steps to open SEOquake’s Quick View report for any page:
Step 1: Open the page you want to analyze in Chrome. Then, click the extensions icon (the puzzle-piece shape) in your browser toolbar.
Step 2: Find SEOquake in the list and click it to open Quick View.
Step 3: Review the tabs in the Quick View pop-up: Page Info, Content, Audit, Schema, and Semrush.
Step 4 (optional): For more detail, click “View Full Report” at the top of the Quick View pop-up.
Step 5 (optional): Return to Quick View by clicking “Back to Quick View” at the top of the Full Report.
SEOquake SEObar
SEObar keeps selected SEO metrics and report shortcuts on supported webpages while you browse. Use it to open Page Info, Audit, Keyword Density, Internal Links, or External Links in Full Report.
If SEObar is not your style, click the SEOquake icon to use Quick View instead.
To change where SEObar appears, which metrics it shows, or how it loads data, see the SEOquake Configuration guide. For metric definitions, see SEOquake Parameters.
How to Pin SEOquake to Your Chrome Toolbar
Pin SEOquake to your toolbar for faster SEO page analysis.
Here’s how:
Step 1: Click the extensions icon (the puzzle-piece shape) in your browser toolbar.
Step 2: Find SEOquake in the list and click the pin icon (the small pushpin) next to it.
Step 3: Open the page you want to analyze. Click the SEOquake icon on your Chrome toolbar to open Quick View.
How to Use SEOquake in Incognito Mode
Chrome disables all extensions in incognito windows by default, including SEOquake. This means SEOquake won’t appear or function in an incognito window unless you enable it manually.
Once enabled, SEOquake’s features work the same in Incognito as they do in a regular window. You can toggle it off at any time.
How to Enable or Disable SEOquake in Incognito
Step 1: Open Chrome’s extensions page by typing chrome://extensions into your address bar, or by clicking the extensions icon (the puzzle-piece shape) in your toolbar and selecting “Manage extensions” at the bottom of the menu.
Step 2: Find SEOquake in your extensions list and click “Details.”
Step 3: Scroll to “Allow in Incognito” and toggle it on or off. The setting updates immediately — no restart needed.
SEOquake Page Audit
The SEOquake Audit lets you instantly analyze any page’s technical and on-page SEO.
Located under the “Audit” tab in the Quick View and Full Report, this report uncovers SEO issues that could impact your rankings and AI visibility.
Key Features
Page Analysis: Checks URL structure, title tags, meta descriptions, headings, image ALT attributes, text-to-HTML ratio, keyword density, and internal links
Mobile Compliance: Assesses responsive design signals (text, navigation, images, and tap targets that stay usable without horizontal scrolling) and a viewport meta tag that lets pages scale properly on mobile devices
Technical Compliance: Analyzes technical elements like HTTP status, XML sitemap data, robots.txt, Meta Robots, HTTPS, X-Robots-Tag, mixed content, HSTS, page size, canonical tags, language declaration, favicon, Schema.org markup, hreflang, and noindex signals
Social: Reviews Open Graph (used by platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn) and Twitter Card metadata
How the Audit Works
SEOquake runs the page in your current tab through a series of on-page and technical SEO checks, then flags each one as a pass or an issue.
While in Full Report, click the “TIPS” dropdown for a plain-language explanation of issues and SEO best practices.
How to Run an Audit
Step 1: Open the page you want to audit. Then, click the SEOquake icon in your browser toolbar.
Step 2: Select the “Audit” tab to view the audit report.
Step 3: Click “View audit report” to open the full audit in a new tab.
Step 4 (optional): Click “Export as PDF” to save or send your audit results.
Note: Throughout SEOquake, you’ll see a small info icon (“i”) next to metrics, elements, and checks in both Quick View and the Full Report. Hover over the icon for a quick explanation.
SEOquake Keyword Density Report
The Keyword Density Report analyzes how keywords are used on any page, including how prominently they appear.
Located under the “Keyword Density” tab in the Full Report, it’s useful for checking your own page’s targeting or analyzing a competitor’s keyword strategy.
Key Features
Keyword Overview: The page’s total word count and a breakdown of its 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-word phrases
Page Info: The page’s title tag and meta description, with a character count for each
Keyword Density tables: Separate tables for 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-word phrases, each listing keywords from most to least frequent
Keyword table columns: Density (what share of the page’s words the keyword makes up), Found In (where it appears: title, meta description, and H1), Repeats (how many times it shows up), and Prom. (how prominent the term is, based on how often and where it’s used)
Filtering and export: Filter keyword rows by “Starts with,” “Contains,” or “RegExp” matching, copy the keyword list, or export the table as a CSV file
How the Keyword Density Report Works
SEOquake scans the page’s content and groups the terms it finds into 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-word phrases.
The report filters common stop words by default, along with very short and numeric-only terms, so it focuses on phrases that are more likely to carry meaning. You can also add custom words to exclude or whitelist words you want included in the report.
To change which words SEOquake ignores, click “Configure stop-word list” within the report.
How to Open the Keyword Density Report
Step 1: Navigate to the page you want to analyze and open SEOquake. Select “View full report” while in Quick View.
Note: Only want a quick snapshot of a page’s keyword density? Open the Quick View report and select the “Content” tab. Scroll to the “Keyword Density” report to see the page’s top 5 keywords, broken down by frequency, prominence, and more.
Step 2: Switch to the “Keyword Density” tab and review the report.
Step 3 (optional): Click “Save as CSV” or “Copy keywords” beneath any keyword density table to save your results.
SEOquake Internal and External Links Report
The Links report lists every internal and external link on a page, with optional SEO metrics for each. It’s useful for auditing your own internal links or studying a competitor’s strategy.
You’ll find it under the “Links” tab in the Full Report, split into two reports: Internal Links have the same origin as the current page, while External Links have a different origin.
Key Features
SEOquake provides two link reports, one for internal links and one for external links.
Internal Links Report
Lists every internal link with its destination URL, anchor text, follow status, HTTP status, and backlink count
Includes optional metrics, such as Semrush data (organic search traffic, traffic cost, and Semrush Rank) and Pinterest pin count
Marks any destination the page links to more than once with a count (example: “2x”)
Lets you show or hide columns
External Links Report
Lists every outbound link on the page
Works the same way as the Internal Links report, with the same link data: destination URL, anchor text, follow status, HTTP status, and any optional metrics you load, including Semrush metrics
How the Links Report Works
When you open the Links report, four columns load automatically: URL, anchor text, follow status, and HTTP status.
Note: On pages with lots of links, the “Status” column may briefly show “…” while SEOquake populates the data. Give it a moment to fully load.
The Backlinks column is also visible by default but loads on request.
Click the spinner icon in any cell to load it for a single link.
Or click “Request all parameters” to load the backlink data for the whole report.
To see other metrics like Semrush Rank, SE Traffic (organic search traffic), Traffic Cost, Pinterest Pin Count, Whois, or Page Source, click “+Add/hide parameters” and add the columns you want
Then, click “Request all parameters” to load the data for the new columns. If a cell shows “n/a,” SEOquake didn’t get a value for that URL or domain.
How to Open the Links Report
Step 1: Navigate to the page you want to analyze and open SEOquake. Select “View full report” while in Quick View.
Step 2: Select the “Links” tab to open the report.
Step 3: Click the “Internal Links” or “External Links” report.
Step 4 (optional): Click “Save as CSV” under the Internal or External Link table to save your results.
SEOquake Compare URLs and Domains
The Compare URLs/Domains report in SEOquake lets you analyze multiple pages or domains at once.
Located under the “Compare” tab in the Full Report, this report shows which pages or domains outperform others for quick and easy SEO site audits and competitor analysis.
Key Features
Semrush Rank: Semrush’s visibility ranking based on a site’s organic search traffic
Backlinks: Each page’s total backlinks and subdomain backlinks
Whois: A quick lookup of each domain’s registration and ownership details
Optional metrics: Select additional metrics to see Semrush’s SE Traffic, Traffic Cost, and domain backlinks, as well as Pinterest pin count and page source
How the Compare Report Works
SEOquake needs at least two valid, unique URLs or domains to run the comparison. If one site’s data can’t load, SEOquake still shows the rest.
Some metrics load automatically, including Semrush Rank, backlinks, subdomain backlinks, and Whois details.
Select “+Add/hide parameters” to include optional metrics like organic search traffic, traffic cost, and Pinterest pin count.
How to Open the Compare Report
Step 1: Navigate to the page you want to analyze and open SEOquake. Select “View full report” while in Quick View.
Step 2: Select the “Compare” tab to open the report.
Step 3: Enter the URLs or domains you want to compare and click “Process list” to generate a side-by-side report.
Step 4 (optional): Click “Save as CSV” under the “Comparison Matrix” table to save your results.
SEOquake Semrush Report
SEOquake’s Semrush report shows how a page or site is performing in organic search, with data pulled straight from Semrush: visibility, traffic, and backlinks. Use it to analyze your own or a competitor’s organic performance at a glance.
You’ll find it under the “Semrush” tab in Quick View and the Full Report.
Key Features
You don’t need a Semrush account to use SEOquake.
Without signing in, the Semrush report shows a mix of public page- and domain-level metrics, including:
Semrush Rank: Semrush’s proprietary metric that ranks sites by their estimated organic search traffic
SE Traffic: Estimated monthly organic search traffic for any site
Traffic Cost: What the organic search traffic would cost to buy through paid search ads
URL Backlinks: Total backlinks pointing to the exact URL
Subdomain Backlinks: Total backlinks pointing to the subdomain (like blog.example.com)
Root Domain Backlinks: Total backlinks pointing to the whole root domain, including every subdomain
Quick View shows a filtered set of the above metrics; Full Report displays all of them.
While optional, connecting your Semrush account to SEOquake provides deeper backlink and traffic metrics.
This includes:
Domain backlink analysis: See domain-level backlink data, referring domains, referring IPs, and breakdowns by top level domain and country
Full traffic data: Total monthly visits, engagement metrics like bounce rate and visit duration, and how traffic breaks down by channel
How the Semrush Report Works
Every metric in the report comes from Semrush and reflects the page or site you’re viewing. Click any number to open the full report on Semrush, where you can dig into the underlying data.
Note: For a quick snapshot of any site’s organic search traffic and backlink profile, view the Semrush tab in Quick View. Open the Full Report for a deeper breakdown.
Locked Semrush sections show a “See More with Semrush” card with a “Connect Semrush” button.
Clicking that button opens Settings > Integrations, where you can connect your Semrush account.
How to Open the Semrush Report
Step 1: Navigate to the page you want to analyze and open SEOquake. Select “View full report” while in Quick View.
Step 2: Select the “Semrush” tab to open the report.
Step 3 (optional): Connect your Semrush account for deeper analysis of any page. (This unlocks additional metrics for the Semrush Quick View and Full Report views.)
