What’s New in SEOquake

This page tracks the latest SEOquake releases, including new features, report changes, and updates to existing tools. Each release includes links to relevant guides when you need more detail.

SEOquake 4.2.3

Rollout began: October 12, 2026

SEOquake 4.2.3 adds dark mode for SERP Overlay, makes overlay controls easier to reach and improves link-check results.

What Changed in 4.2.3

• SERP Overlay appearance: Choose Match Google, Light or Dark for organic result metrics and AI Overview sources. Match Google is the default.
• Quick View overlay control: Turn SERP Overlay on or off directly from Quick View settings.
• Updated position numbers: Result numbers now appear before titles and stay readable in Google’s light and dark modes.
• Clearer link checks: Run link-status checks from Audit or Links. Results distinguish confirmed broken links from checks blocked by login requirements, access restrictions or rate limits.
• More detail in link CSVs: Exports now include a Check result column alongside Status, showing HTTP results or labels such as Not checked and Skipped.
• More reliable backlink counts: Improved page backlink lookups for URLs with common tracking parameters.

SEOquake 4.2.2

Rollout began: October 1, 2026

SEOquake 4.2.2 adds more control over the SERP sidebar, improves Semrush links and fixes an issue that could sign you out of your website.

What Changed in 4.2.2

• Collapsible SERP sidebar: Collapse the sidebar to a small logo tab and reopen it when needed. Your choice is remembered.
• More precise Semrush links: Analyze opens the exact result page, including AI Overview sources. Rank, Traffic and Costs links open domain reports.
• Settings save automatically: Changes save as you make them, with a retry option if saving fails.
• Sign-out fix: Fixed a bug where opening SEOquake could sign you out of your site.
• Link checks on demand: In Full Report, open Links and select Check status to check eligible links. Logout and other recognized action links are skipped, and unchecked links no longer produce a healthy Audit result.

SEOquake 4.2.1

Rollout began: September 28, 2026

SEOquake 4.2.1 extends SERP Overlay to Google’s AI Overview sources, helping you research AI visibility with Semrush metrics.

What Changed in 4.2.1

• AI Overview sources: See metrics on Google’s source cards and open Analyze sources to compare cited sources in one panel.
• AI source CSV export: Download source URLs, titles and your selected metrics for further analysis.
• AI source controls: Turn AI source metrics on or off in SERP Overlay settings. Use the existing Parameters menu to choose your metrics.
• Country-aware Semrush links: Analyze, Rank, Traffic and Costs links now use your search country. Displayed built-in organic metrics remain US-based.
• SERP CSV export: Now includes Authority Score, visits and engagement metrics from your connected Semrush account.
• Reliability and performance: Improved performance while you browse, plus a retry option when Semrush account metrics don’t load.

SEOquake 4.2

Rollout began: September 18, 2026

SEOquake 4.2 brings SERP Overlay back to Google’s organic results, with position numbers and Semrush metrics.

What Changed in 4.2

• Country and language selection: Use Locale in the search sidebar to apply your preferences or reset them to defaults.
• Quick Parameters: Choose which metrics appear in the overlay. Changes apply immediately and save automatically.
• SERP CSV export: Download result URLs, positions and your selected parameters for further analysis.
• More data with a free Semrush account: Connect to add Authority Score, visits and engagement metrics to the overlay.

SEOquake 4.1.2

Rollout began: September 9, 2026

SEOquake 4.1.2 adds clearer guidance for finding the report previously called Diagnosis. You’ll find it under Audit in the Full Report, where it’s titled On-Page SEO Audit.

What Changed in 4.1.2

• Audit guidance in Quick View: A new message explains where to find the former Diagnosis report, with a “View audit report” link to open all 28 checks on one page.
• A familiar label in Full Report: A “Formerly Diagnosis” label helps you recognize the On-Page SEO Audit.

SEOquake 4.1.1

Rollout began: September 7, 2026

SEOquake 4.1.1 fixes a styling conflict that could affect the appearance of some websites while SEObar was enabled.

Rollout began: August 31, 2026

SEOquake 4.1 brings SEObar back to SEOquake 4. The on-page toolbar keeps selected SEO metrics and report shortcuts visible while you review a page.

What Changed in 4.1

• SEObar on the page: View selected SEO metrics while you browse, then open Page Info, Audit, Keyword Density, Internal Links, or External Links when you need more detail.
• Dedicated SEObar settings: Choose when metrics load, the bar’s position and appearance, which parameters and report shortcuts it shows, and its URL filters.
• Semrush Site Audit results: With a connected Semrush account and a matching Site Audit campaign, view results for the current page after the campaign has crawled it.
• SERP Overlay returned in SEOquake 4.2.

SEOquake 4.0

Rollout began: August 10, 2026

Update: SEObar wasn’t included in the initial SEOquake 4.0 release. It returned in SEOquake 4.1 following your feedback. SERP Overlay returned in SEOquake 4.2.

What Changed in 4.0

• New report layout: Quick View shows a condensed snapshot of the page. Full Report includes six panels: Page Info, Audit, Keyword Density, Links, Compare, and Semrush.
• Expanded page audit: The Audit now runs 28 page-level checks, up from 21 in legacy SEOquake: 8 on-page, 2 mobile, 16 technical, and 2 social.
• A dedicated Semrush panel: Semrush data keeps its place in Quick View and gains a full tab in the Full Report. Core reports and built-in Semrush metrics work without a Semrush account. Connect Semrush for Backlink Profile data. Traffic Analytics appears when the account has access and Semrush has data for the site.
• More report detail: Full Report adds HTTP status and broken-link handling, expanded image and schema details, social metadata with a share preview, and a PDF Audit export.

Where to Find Legacy Reports

Most core reports moved into the new layout. SEOquake 4.0 still includes Page Info, Audit, Keyword Density, Links, Compare, Semrush metrics, CSV exports, and configurable keyword stop words.

Pop-up Panel is now Quick View
Page Info, Content, Audit, Schema, and Semrush each have their own tab.

Diagnosis is now Full Report: Audit
The report was renamed and expanded from 21 to 28 checks.

Density is now Full Report: Keyword Density
Analyze repeated one- through four-word phrases in the redesigned report.

Internal / External (Linkinfo) is now Full Report: Links
Internal and external links now include HTTP status codes and a Broken count.

Compare Module is now Full Report: Compare
URL and domain comparisons now live inside Full Report.

Options is now Settings
General, Parameters, SEObar, and Integrations replace the legacy settings layout.

Doctype and Encoding are still reported, but they now appear as document information instead of pass-or-fail audit checks. Optional metrics for Internal Links, External Links, and Compare can be managed under Settings, then Parameters.

What Isn’t Included in the Initial SEOquake 4.0 Release

The initial SEOquake 4.0 release did not include SEObar or SERP Overlay. SEObar returned in SEOquake 4.1. SERP Overlay returned in SEOquake 4.2.

Some legacy audit checks, search engine metrics, page-highlighting tools, and custom parameter controls also aren’t included. The Settings page supports exporting and importing 4.0 settings; files exported from legacy SEOquake aren’t compatible.
